Pablo Garcia, age 90, of Corpus Christi, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 31, 2026. He has now been joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Irene, who preceded him to the Promised Land. Together, they now spend eternity in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Pablo was born on April 26, 1935, in the small town of Floresville, Texas, just outside of San Antonio, to Arnulfo and Ursula Garcia. At the tender age of three, Pablo suffered the loss of his father to pneumonia, a hardship that forever shaped his life. As the eldest child, he carried responsibilities far beyond his years. Eventually, his mother relocated the family to Corpus Christi, where she later remarried.
Out of necessity and love for his family, Pablo sacrificed his formal education at a young age to help support his mother and younger siblings. He often shared stories of picking cotton, working for several years at a bakery, and later learning the trade that would define his life—carpentry. Pablo mastered his craft and earned deep respect from clients and colleagues alike, eventually establishing Garcia Construction Company. He took pride in being part of the crew that built the first IGA store in Port Aransas and contributed to the construction of many homes in Port Aransas and Key Allegro (Rockport). He also found the time to construct his own summer home in Port A that holds many memories.
On March 12, 1960, Pablo married the love of his life, Irene Trejo, and together they began building not only homes, but a family rooted in love, faith, and hard work. For over 40 years, Pablo worked in the home-building industry, yet no matter how long the day, he always made it home in time for a home-cooked meal with his family. Weekends were treasured—early breakfasts with Irene followed by estate sales and garage sales were simple joys they shared. Sundays were devoted to faith and family, as Pablo faithfully drove Irene and their three boys to Gollihar Baptist Church for both morning and evening services.
After many prayers from Irene, and with the encouragement of Richard Villarreal and Jimmy Aldape, Pablo gave his life to Christ and was baptized in 1973 alongside his two older sons. From that day forward, church became an essential part of his life. He served humbly and faithfully, finding comfort in the Finance Committee, church clean-up days, and assisting with construction projects—most notably the rugged wooden cross that once hung over the baptistry at Gollihar Baptist Church.
Pablo had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting. Whether in his younger years with his brothers Arnulfo and Lupe, or later with cherished friends and families including Juventino Ramirez, Richard Villarreal, David Trevino and Matthew, or his neighbor Charlie Postel, those moments were precious to him to spend in the outdoors. Even when he could no longer drive, friends like Juan and Hector made sure he never missed a weekend at the deer lease. Whether or not he harvested game, Pablo delighted in watching the wildlife, sharing stories, enjoying hearty breakfasts at camp, and grilling on the parrilla, often serving his famous ranch-style “Pablo beans.”
After the passing of his beloved Irene in March 2019 at Garden Estates—after 59 years of marriage—Pablo was never quite the same. Yet, his faith and determination carried him forward. He returned home in July 2019 and continued to live independently with minimal assistance until 2024. He remained active, tending to his yard and garden with pride, always looking ahead to the next planting season.
Pablo is preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene Garcia; his brothers, Arnulfo Garcia and Rudolfo Barrera; and his sister, Natalia Martinez. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Garza; his three sons, Pablo David Garcia (Rosalinda), Philip Daniel Garcia (Diana), and Gabriel Gerard Garcia (Yvonne); his grandchildren, Jennafer, Jacqueline, Nathan, Nicole, James, and Micah; his adopted grandson, Daniel Beltran; and his daughter, Samantha.
Visitation services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 12:00 noon. All services will take place at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A fellowship meal will follow the Monday service at a location to be announced.
Pablo Garcia will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant of God, hardworking craftsman, and a man whose quiet strength and humility left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
