Chon,  there is so much I want to say . I know you  knew how I felt about you. You were not just my sisters'  Raquel and Nicole dad but in a way I  saw you as a father figure as well. You have  been part of my life as far as I can remember. 
Chon,   I'm trying to figure out  how to say goodbye to you but I cannot  find the words. It will not be the same without your  voice calling me Charlie or mijo or having you lay  hands on me to pray  for me and give me your blessing. I know it is selfish, but I want you here when I come home on leave. I know someday we will  see each other again., and you will hand  me a $5 bill again like you used when I was a  kid.
I know  my grandpa  Mendez  was glad to see you when you arrived in heaven. I  also  know you will keep  looking out for  me and my sisters from heaven.   I will miss you  very much.  For now good-bye until we see each other  again.

Jefe, it’s been a week since I last saw you in my (our) home. Raquel, Uriah, and I miss you dearly. Everyday we turn on your TV just to hear your favorite preachers preach the word. I miss hearing your words “May the Lord go with you, and have a blessed day” as I leave the house for work. I can’t believe it has been 6 years that we (you, Raquel, Uriah, and me) have lived together. I miss you so much, and our talks about life. You were more than a father in law to me, you were a friend who showed no judgment on me. You were a father that cared for his children, including me. I miss seeing and hearing you pray in the spirit, I especially miss you placing your hand on my head to anoint me with a prayer when I was having a bad day. 17 years ago I asked for your daughters hand in marriage. That day I gained a father. 

My deepest condolences to all the family. Cousin Chon would visit my church, The Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship, and he was always so free in his worship to Jesus Christ. I know that he is dancing freely and pain-free right now in the presence of God with all his family that preceded him in death. He was always a blessing. 

Thinking of you all during your time of loss. May you hear your father’s words of wisdom guiding you, and may you always feel his love everywhere you go. During these times of sadness, we hope that you can look back and take comfort in all the wonderful memories you all made as a family.

Michael, Denise & Mark,  Your father was a good man, he was very caring and always willing to help.  He was there for the kids and I when your Uncle Ruben was in Vietnam.  He will be missed.  May he Rest In Peace.
