Raul C. Gutierrez

Raul Carlos Gutierrez, 95, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 with his family by his side. Born on February 21, 1917, he was reared in Banquete,Texas and was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Beatrice C. Gutierrez, his parents Florencio and Rosaura, his brothers Romeo, Manuel, Willie, and Lauro, his sisters Socorro, Mary, and Viola. He is survived by his daughters, Norma San Miguel (Fred), Rosaena Garza (Joe), and Diana Fernandez; grandchildren, Analisa Lawhon, Joe Garza (Patricia), Marci Garza, Andres Fernandez (Sylvia), Gabriel Fernandez; great grandchildren, Zane and Caity Lawhon, Camryn, Kacie, Camille Garza, Viviana and Angelina Blanca Fernandez. He is survived by his sisters, Elisa, Beatrice, and Irma; sisters-in-law and numerous nephews, nieces, and their families.

Raul worked for the Texas Mexican Railway Company for forty-four years, retiring in 1982. He was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church Men's Club for many years, instrumental in raising funds to build the current church. He was an avid bowler and golfer, traveling throughout Texas and participating in tournaments. He and Beatrice had been members of the Mr. and Mrs. Club and the Sceptre Club.

The family appreciates the care given by the staff at Trisun Assisted Living Corpus Christi, Kindred Healthcare and Angel Bright Hospice. Public visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly Chapel, followed by a rosary 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
