

He married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betsy) Owens-Hesseltine on June 13, 1981 at the Sinton Baptist Church.
He graduated from Sinton High School, class of ’76 and then went on to receive a degree in Industrial Machining from Del Mar College. Rick was chosen from Del Mar College at the age of 19, by Suntide Refinery, now Flint Hills, which he devoted 28 years of his life to. He then went on to become a manager at Turbo Machinery, which lead to his final career as a quote specialist for Siemens Corporation.
Rick’s love of sports began at an early age; he excelled at pole vaulting, reaching for the skies. Rick had a love for the outdoors; hunting, fishing, golfing and cliff diving along the “Guadalupe.” He was a 4-wheel adventurer and motorcycle enthusiast who loved riding and kicking up mud.
He was admired for his unconditional love, patience, selflessness and kindness. To know him was to love him.
Rick goes on to continue his journey in heaven, awaiting the arrival of his family; his wife, Betsy; his two daughters, Holly Ann (Adam) Phillipi from Rockport, Texas and July D’Lynn (Keith) Johnson from Conroe, Texas; Zach Smith, a friend that he thought of like a son.
He will be lovingly missed by the 3 lights of his life, his grandchildren; Preston Brooks Phillipi, Khloe Grace Phillipi and Luke Michael Johnson. Also, his mother, Rayma Jean (Fritsche) Hesseltine; sister, Vicki (Mark) McCoy and his brother, Terry (Debbie) Hesseltine and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will begin receiving guests at 12:30 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM.
