In loving memory of Robert “Bob” Richardson, who peacefully departed this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on May 15, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Bob leaves a legacy of loving Jesus and others.
He was predeceased by his parents Emil “Arthur” (1984) and Sidney “Fay” Richardson (1991), his brother James “Jimmy” Richardson (1992), and his in-laws William “Bill” (1976) and Dorothy “Cleo” Cutler (2002).
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Judith “Judie” Richardson, and his four children Kyle (Joyce), Kim (Nicola), Kandee (Oscar), and Kristopher (Grace). He also had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he held in high regard. Of all titles, Granddaddy was the one he cherished the most. He was blessed beyond measure with 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Throughout his lifetime, he faithfully attended church. At present, he was a member of Living Word Church. More notably, he lived out his faith in everyday life. Routine encounters with others quickly evolved into messages of faith, hope, love, forgiveness, reconciliation, testimonies, and other conversations leading to Biblical truths put into practice. He was consistent in his witnessing, in the most subtle ways, by asking questions, getting to the heart of the matter, and encouraging the recipient of the life lesson. Work was no exception--anyone in earshot definitely heard him mentioning soles and souls.
Bob kept his word, whether he was offering someone his card to exchange for food at a local restaurant or serving as an elder at church. The commitment that he honored above all others was his marriage. Bob and Judie mentored their own family as well as set an example for other couples at church and in their friend circle. Their marriage of 63 years (1962) and their legacy of family speak for themselves. The same loyalty applied to his work. He began working with his dad at age 10 and continued until 2015, when he retired from Red Wing Shoes at 71, totaling 62 years of work.
Granddaddy was known for being very studious. He frequently asked his family members if they knew the meaning of a given word, sending his children scrambling for dictionaries and his grandchildren for the search bar on Google. The inquisition didn’t stop there. He wanted to make sure you remembered the word and that you could use it in a sentence. Along with his quick wit, he also had a wonderful sense of humor. He had numerous lengthy jokes that were crowd pleasers, including “he thinks he knows you.” More importantly, Granddaddy was wise and offered sage advice grounded in faith.
In his childhood, Bobby was always tinkering with something or being a precocious boy. He made stilts, homemade darts with matches and needles, and worked on the machines at his father’s business. He would save money for a trip to the drugstore down the street. As an adult, he passed on some of the same hobbies and a knack for tinkering with things to his children. Some of his favorite pastimes as an adult were fishing and spending time in Leakey, Texas.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Compassus Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Bob and his immediate family. Even though Bob is not present with us, he will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. One day, we will be united for all eternity.
The visitation, funeral services, and graveside will be held at Memory Gardens (8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78415) on Friday, May 15. Visitation will be held at noon; the funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m., and the graveside will follow. The family invites you to attend a fellowship (light lunch and dessert) following the services at the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Hall (2301 Saratoga, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417.)
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Bob’s honor to your church or a local non-profit of your choice
