

Roel (Roy) G. Marroquin joined his beloved wife, Alicia, in heaven on March 9, 2014. Roy had recently celebrated his 86th birthday with family and friends. He was born on February 15, 1928 to Antonia and Santiago Marroquin.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Alicia with whom he shared 49 years of marriage, his sisters Amparo Villareal and Connie Hinojosa, and his brother, Robert Marroquin.
He Graduated from Roy Miller High School where he played football, ran track and played in the band. Roy retired after working at the Naval Base for 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as a lifetime member of VFW & DAV. He served his country proudly in the Korean War. Roy enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing dominoes, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Roy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Roy leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children, Edna (Michael) Arredondo, Linda (George) Edwards, Roy (Belissa) Marroquin Jr, Normajean (Joe) Diaz,Oscar (Kokie) Gonzales and Daniel Arredondo; his siblings, Ernesto (Matilde) Marroquin, Terry (Ben) Avalos, Dora (Valentino) DeLeon, Rene (Emily) Marroquin, and sister-in-law, Ester Salazar. In addition to his children and siblings, Roy leaves behind 11 grandchilden and 14 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Nurse Anita and Mr. Yzaguirre, who provided loving care and support to their father.
The family will be receiving friends on March 11, 2014 at Funeral Del Angel-Memorial Holly from 5 to 9 pm. A rosary will be held in Roy's honor on March 11 at 7 pm. Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Church on March 12 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
