Rufino E. Rivera

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to the patriarch of our family, Rufino E. Rivera, 79 who passed away on January 24, 2017. He was born on September 14, 1937 to the late Rufino and Narcisca Rivera in Falfurrias, TX. He was the one man who was responsible for showing us how life was to be lived. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who provided us all a stable foundation, giving us a perspective on the importance of family values.

A hardworking, self-employed, business owner of Aztec Glass since the 1960's, Rufino will always be remembered for his generosity towards all. In his spare time he enjoyed, hunting, but was always ready to spend quality time with family and friends, while occasionally breaking into song and playing guitar.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria L. Rivera, and 4 brothers.

He is survived by his 4 children, Rose Marie Rivera, Rufino Rivera III (Mary), Sara Herrada (William), Yolanda Rivera (Margaret) ; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Elodia Almendarez, Noemi Rodriguez, Gloria Perez, Minerva Garcia, Graciela Cadena; brothers, Benny Elizondo, and Ramiro Rivera.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. To 9:00 p.m. With a Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. That same evening.

Graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
