Santos V. Garcia, 90, passed away on May 15, 2014. She was born on January 2, 1924 to Juan Vela and Isabel Hernandez in Corpus Christi, Texas. Santos was the owner of La Siesta Café for over 40 years.
Santos is preceded in death by her husband, Abel Garcia; son, Ernesto Cantu; her parents; sisters, Josefina Colunga, Juanita Hernandez, and brother, Simon Vela.
She is survived by her children; Alfredo Garcia, Anita Garcia, Amada Arreola, and Alicia Garcia; 15-grandchildren; 24-great grandchildren; brother; Porfirio Vela, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a prayer service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
