Virginia Irene Grimm Ivy

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carley M. Ivy of Corpus Christi, TX; her brother, Warren Grimm of Corpus Christi, TX and her step-daughter, Mary Ann Ivy.

She is survived by her brother, Elroy Grimm of Flemington, NJ; her son, M. David Mote (Pamela) of Corpus Christi, TX; her step-daughter, Susan Chaney (Jack) of Rockport, TX; her step-son, Milton Ivy of Sandia, TX; seven grandchildren, Nicole Benson (Cannon) of Portland, TX, Allana Mote and Michael Mote of Corpus Christi, TX, James Chaney (Shandi), Brandy Chaney, Rebekah Strickland and Kevin Jones and her great-grandchildren, Ronin Tam Benson, Connor Chaney, Bailey LeAnn Chaney, Bobby Sims and Isabella Strickland as well as a large extended family.

She was loved by all who knew her. She was a long time employee of La Retama Library and dearly loved her work there. Recently she was on the front page of the Caller-Times as “an unknown library employee”. She got a kick out of that. Even after she retired from the library, she spent many hours there volunteering. It saddened her greatly when she was forced to give that up. She then spent time taking care of the library at Second Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a devoted mother to her only child, David. Once she became a grandmother, she devoted herself to her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed, but she is in the comfort of her loving Father and many family members.

Funeral services will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
