

Bernice L. Barnes passed away peacefully in her home in Naples, Florida on April 11, 2016. Bernice was born in Canal Lewisville, Ohio on July 30, 1915 to Lewis Wade Foster and Jesse Ferrell Foster. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L. Barnes; her parents; and her brother, James Foster.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Betty Husson; granddaughters, Annette and Babette Husson; grandson-in-law, Timothy Lewis; great granddaughter, Kimberly Lewis; sister-in-law, Helen Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Bernice was born and raised on a farm in Canal Lewisville, Ohio and is the descendant of Irish immigrants who worked on the Ohio and Eerie Canal. She is a 1933 graduate of Coshocton High School and during World War II Bernice worked at Pretty Products in Coshocton, Ohio, oiling the window sections in the cockpit of the B-29 bomber. Bernice worked as a Deputy Clerk of Courts in Coshocton for 24 years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:00am at Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow at Canal Lewisville Cemetery.
