Doris Layton

Doris Irene (Ross) Layton, age 90, of Coshocton, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Autumn Health Care Center. She was born in Adamsville, on April 18, 1921 to the late Leslie K. and Rosa (Brannon) Ross. Doris worked for Shaw Barton in the Calendar Finishing Department and was a homemaker. On August 26, 139, she married Gilbert Layton. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Methodist Church and Park United Methodist Church. Doris enjoyed working, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Ron (Sharon) Layton; three grandchildren, Sue Ann Layton Garrett, Scott (Sarah) Allen Layton, and Shelly Annette Layton Farley; five great-grandchildren, David Allen Buker, Christopher Forest Buker, Elizabeth Ann Layton, Lora Kay Layton, and Nala Marie Layton; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband Gilbert, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Ruth Ross Carns and Helen Ross Lowe. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11:00 am with Reverend James Macdonald officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the funeral home from 5-8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service.
