Born in 1934, Emma grew up near Bavaria, Germany until she decided to cross the Atlantic to America as a young woman, where she knew no one and spoke only German. She worked in various occupations and taught herself to speak English by attending 4 movies every Saturday. She met the love of her life, Arthur Way, through her German girlfriend, Hilda (who was married to Arthur's brother), and it was love at first sight. She and Arthur married on August 26, 1962. In 1966 they moved from Rhode Island to Coshocton, Ohio where they raised their four children on “The Farm”. After losing her husband in 1993, Emma moved from Coshocton to Beavercreek and finally planted her traveling roots in Crestwood, Kentucky where she was an active member of Hospice, The Ronald McDonald House, her quilting club, and her Church.
Emma's real and abiding passions were her family and friends. She sought to instill in her children a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of a smile.
Emma is survived by her four children, daughter Sarah (Ron) of Roscoe, IL, sons Fred (Trudy) of Wellsville, PA, Arthur (Stephanie) of Crestwood KY, and Dan (Jennifer) of Zanesville OH. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Emmy, Katie (Jordan), Arthur, Ryan, Ella, Dan Jr, and John; as well as 6 great grandchildren, Atleigh, Brooklyn, Alyssa, Easton, Isabella, and Scarlett. She is also survived by 3 very dear sisters, Hermine, Maria, and Martha – all of Ebersburg, Germany.
