Phyllis G. Clark

Phyllis Gail (Moore) Clark completed her life purpose in this world on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville, Ohio. She was surrounded in love by her four children at the time of her passing. Phyllis was born to James B. Moore and Z. Geraldine (Strouse) Moore on May 8, 1936 in Coshocton Ohio. Phyllis had one beloved sister, Carol Wright, of Tuscon, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William W. Clark, her grandson Justin Loos, and her daughter through marriage, Reta (Clark) Chapman.

Phyllis loved her family with all of her being, and she loved to celebrate family with home-cooked meals and “party” food. Her cheeseballs were well-known and coveted by those who received one.

She is survived by her children, James (Kristy) Loos, Marcia Loos Storm, William (Laura) Clark, Leslie (Mike Wilson) Skelley, and her daughter through marriage, Peggy (Gary) Crowthers. Nephews Scott (Karen) Wright and Jeff (Deana) Wright and Jennifer (Chris) Babler were instrumental in the fabric of family life. All were present during her last few days of life in this world.

Phyllis is survived by a total of 14 grandchildren: Janelle Hall, Chad Crowthers, Eric Chapman, Curt Chapman, Jennifer Bickel, Brian Healy, Angela Jones, Ross Healy, Tiffany Healy, Ben Clark, Michelle Clark, Ryan Skelley, Sarah Warehime, Kyle Skelley and their families. Phyllis was blessed with the current great-grandchildren numbering 21!

Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Coshocton. Many remember Phyllis from her years of working at Marilyn’s Natural Foods in Coshocton. She was a graduate of Coshocton High School and sustained lifelong friendships from her school days. Her faith and belief in Jesus Christ was the foundation upon which she lived.

She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church until she became a Founding Member of Four Square Gospel Church in Roscoe. In recent months, she reinstated her membership with Grace United Methodist Church. From teaching Sunday School, Bible School, joining and leading the Women’s Aglow Fellowship, and personally supporting local and foreign missionaries, Phyllis shared her personal faith in Jesus Christ with friends, family, and all who were willing to listen.

She enjoyed traveling when she could, especially to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She felt privileged to experience Alaska, Hawaii, and the Holy Lands. She was always interested in the musings of her children and grandchildren and traveled vicariously through their experiences.

Phyllis loved the arts and anything that Coshocton offered, including Community Orchestra and Choirs, the Little Theatre, and visual arts at the Pomerene Center. Phyllis enjoyed athletics, played tennis in her younger years, and loved to dance the jitterbug. She attended Coshocton High School athletic events as she could when her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were competing. Phyllis was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State University Football and Swimming teams and Northern Kentucky University Women’s Basketball. Phyllis loved a “good movie” but was also notorious for talking throughout the movie, missing the plot!

Phyllis will be forever cherished by her immediate and extended family members and dear friends. Well done, good and faithful servant!

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Roscoe Village Visitors Center. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Nelson Brown officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
