Russell Butch Lee Gibbs

Russell Lee “Butch” Gibbs, 74 of Fresno, Ohio died Sunday morning, December 31, 2017 at his home. He was born September 18, 1943 in Dover, Ohio to the late Russell (Paulene) Gibbs and Bessie (Ernie) Ames. On June 19, 1971, he married Linda (Deibel) Gibbs, who survives.

Russell was a graduate of Fresno High School. He served in the United State Army from 1968–1970 and retired from General Electric in 1998 after 36 years. He enjoyed playing and coaching sports in his younger days and was passionate about the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He also loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Russell enjoyed farming and the outdoors, especially trapping and mushroom hunting.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two children, Angie (Matt) Cabot and Jeff (Brittany) Gibbs both of Fresno; his two grandchildren, Jayce and Aleeah Cabot; his sister, Judy (Eugene) Mizer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held in Russell’s honor at the Renners United Church of Christ on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 12pm with an hour prior to greet family and friends.
