

Sharleen Marie Flowers, age 78, who lived in Coshocton, Ohio, passed away after battling pancreatic cancer on Monday, November 09th, 2015 at 10:40 am. (She was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in May 2015). Her final days were accompanied by her loving family and friends at the Kobacker House (Hospice) in Columbus, Ohio.
Sharleen was born in Galion, Ohio to Mary Elizabeth (Beck) and Raymond Talbott on September 29, 1937, and married Gene E. Flowers, who passed June 1st, 2002.
Sharleen is survived by her son, Jeffery Flowers, and his wife, Susan as well as her daughter, Krista Elgin and her husband, Kevin. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Talbott, and his wife, Richie.
Sharleen’s grandchildren are Amanda N. (Elgin) Hammond and her husband, Dr. Christopher L. Hammond; Kevin R. Elgin II and his wife, Mylene Elgin (expecting twins); Michelle Flowers; Scott Flowers and his fiancé, Kendallyn Nuss. Sharleen’s great granddaughter is Audrey R. Hammond, 4.
Sharleen lived a full life as a religious, energetic and engaging person. She took an active and caring role in her family, the Coshocton, Ohio community and with her many friends. She sang in the choir at Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Organization. She volunteered a great deal; including, but not limited to, being a reading tutor for children while she lived in Florida. She used her artistic gifts (including baking, painting, flower arranging, crafts) on countless projects for church, clubs, and home. Her floral pieces entered at the Coshocton County Fair, winning numerous blue ribbons. Gene and Sharleen were members of The Coshocton Country Club, where great memories abound. She participated in many activities, including: tennis, golf, skiing, women’s fitness classes (taught). She cared deeply for the welfare of animals, especially the family pets. Sharleen wintered in Lake Wales, Florida, while enjoying the company of many close friends. Disney World and the Outer Banks were two of her favorite repeat vacation spots with family and friends.
During her illness, Sharleen appreciated all of the heartwarming thoughts, prayers, get-well cards, visits from clergy and loved ones as well as the community quilt from her friends in Lake Wales, Florida.
The Flowers, Talbott, and Elgin families would like to recognize the loving and outstanding care Sharleen received from Kobacker House (Hospice) and express our sincere appreciation for guiding us through the heart-wrenching process of losing our dearly beloved Mom/ Grandma/Sister/Friend.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Peachey officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery in Galion, Ohio at 1:30 p.m. Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Grace United Methodist Church.
