

Wilma Jeanne Stewart, age 87 of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015. She was born on December 6, 1927 in Blue Diamond, Kentucky to the late Donald and Sadie (Jackson) Fagan. On August 26, 1949 she married James Stewart who passed away in July 2011.
Jeanne was a Baptist by faith and attended the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette and the First Baptist Church of Newcomerstown. Church was a big part of Jeanne’s life. She was involved in the choir and Sunday school and loved to read her bible. She loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed boating, fishing, playing card games, painting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Paula (Timothy) Cheney of West Lafayette and Shawn (Nanette) Stewart of Riverview, FL; three grandchildren, Shannon Donley, Nicholas Donley, and Sara Cheney; step-grandson, Timothy Cheney II; great-grandchildren, Zachary Donley, Carter Donley, Kaleah Dreher, and Dylan Donley; one sister, Barbara Aslinger of El Dorado, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Jeanne is preceded in death by her son Jim Stewart; great-grandson, Cole Eckley, and three sisters, Naomi Bargo, Ruth Lawhorn, and Margie Burnette.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 am at Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Reverend Don Silverthorn officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5:00-8:00pm and one hour prior to the funeral service.
