

Bruce Cohen, a loving brother, father, grandfather, and devoted companion, passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 77, at UCI Health Los Alamitos. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bruce later made his home in Long Beach, California.
Bruce is survived by his sisters, Ilene Harrington and Donna Cretcher; his daughters, Shelly Dunlap and Shannon O’Dell; and his beloved grandchildren, Annabella Dunlap and Archer O’Dell. He also leaves behind his cherished companion and best friend, Carol Champlin, whose presence brought him great comfort and joy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Cohen; his father, Harvey Cohen; and the love of his life, Sharon Cohen.
In his younger years, Bruce found joy in staying active—he loved running, swimming, and dancing. As life went on, his greatest happiness came from the simple but meaningful moments spent with those he loved most. Whether it was a casual day trip to Starbucks or a meal at his favorite restaurant, Katella Deli, Bruce treasured time spent with family and close friends.
Bruce will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with an incredibly joyful spirit. Despite facing many health challenges, he showed remarkable strength and resilience. He was truly a survivor. Above all else, he made sure his family always knew how deeply they were loved.
Bruce’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A graveside memorial will be held at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Mortuary & Memorial Park, located at 1625 Gisler Ave in Costa Mesa, CA, at 11:00am on May 29, 2026.
