I was a  friend of David throughout High School…at Edison HS. We had our little gang of  friends…. He loved  his mustang’….. we all went into the marine corp…. 1979/80 I knew his family…. Lost touch once we joined the corp… 

David and I were roommates for a number of years.   I have so many great memories, I could write a book.  One of my favorites is of us sipping whiskey late at night and singing along with David Allan Coe to “You Don’t Have To Call Me Darling.  A few years back when David was in rehab, I saw  Coe in concert and sent David a  video of him singing “Darling”.  We had many laughs over that!  David was always there when you needed him.  I miss my friend.

I met David at the rehab center. We saw each other for speech therapy to work on one of his favorite subjects - eating and enjoying foods!  David was one of the hardest working person I've ever met. He never missed a session even when he wasn't feeling well. He never complained about how much swallowing exercises he must do everyday. Over the course of our sessions, we developed a friendship and he would always listen and problem solve for me. Therapy wasn't just therapy anymore, it became our hangout time and it was so wonderful. We worked on exercises, we talked about family and we laughed on silly things together. He showed me how an ordinary thing that we do everyday can be so meaningful. He was so loving and caring. I will forever miss him. 

I met David at the Bar Mitzvah of a mutual friend, Craig, when we were both 12 years old. Although there were gaps here and there of a few years, for the most part we stayed in touch throughout our lives.  He and Debbie were at our wedding, and I remember when he first told me that he had met someone special whom he thought was ‘the one’. He was so right!

I’ve long  said that David was one of the most brilliant people I know. We had not been in touch during his time in the Marines or his surgery and treatment for Cancer, but we reconnected shortly after, and he has been a steadfast friend throughout my life. Someone I could talk to about most anything, from world events, to politics (we were going to start a new political party), to the most personal things going on in my life.  He always listened. He always cared. He always offered good advise (and many jokes!).  

David was a person of such high integrity and intelligence that I think he was sometimes baffled by us ‘regular’ folks.  Even with his medical problems these last few years, and our much less frequent contact, he managed to share insights that were far beyond the daily musings of most people.   I am so fortunate to have had a friend like David. And he was so fortunate to have found his soul mate and life partner in Debbie.

It's impossible to sum up a lifetime of memories in 2000 characters!  I remember the day Debbie told me about the irritatingly brilliant student she had met in her math class.  We were both single and neither was dating.  Dave was so smart, he knew every answer, and they quickly became study partners.   They competed on a very high intellectual level challenging each other to be the best, both vying to beat the other.  Then one day she laughingly said to me, "wouldn't it be funny if I end up with him???".  I had just met a guy at a dance class, and we 
had  started to gravitate to being steady dance partners.  We both laughed that we had somehow met someone at the same time.   That was almost 30 years ago.   We all became fast friends and thus started the journey of our memories with Debbie and Dave.  They started as struggling students, then rented a campus apartment where Dave set up a Tweety Cam on their balcony so they could watch a little bird built a nest and lay eggs under their Eve.  They watched those eggs hatch and the babies grow on their TV.  Soon they moved into a beautiful little historical house in Santa Ana where we played weekly card games, and had BBQs.  We all got married at around the same time and enjoyed spending time together.  We vacationed at the beach, flew kites, and snorkeled in Hawaii!  Dave was so determined to pass the bar that he even brought his law books to Hawaii and would study in between, before and after adventures.  After we got back, he took the bar exam and passed with flying colors!  We have shared a lifetime of memories with Debbie and Dave and the one thing that stands out is their undying devotion, love and support for each other.   We are honored to call them more than friends.  They are family!  We love you, Debbie. Please know that Dave will be sorely missed and he'll remain in our hearts forever!  Love, Margaret and Gil

David and I were school friends since 1974 at Sowers Middle School. We walked to classes together on Edison High School campus everyday during our Freshman and Sophomore years. When I joined EHS Varsity Football, our paths went different directions. When Facebook appeared in 2008, David was my first Facebook friend connection! We had such rich conversations about everything in life. This was when he just started Law School to become an Attorney! I really liked David as a genuine friend. He was so intelligent and funny. I will never forget him.

David and I went to kindergarten together. When we were supposed to be napping, he and I slid around the room on our towels. Back then I called him my “boyfriend”. 
He was very sweet to look me up in our high school years when we went to different schools. We had one date, and I’ve always regretted never seeing him again. 
We briefly reconnected on Facebook, with not nearly enough conversation. 
I always have missed him and always will.
