James Peter Herring

Jim was born on December 29th, 1935 in Minnesota to parents Perle and Cecil Herring. He graduated from Aiken High School in 1953. He also graduated from Dunwoody trade school, Minneapolis and California State University, Fullerton. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959, and spent 28 months of his 4 years in England as a control tower operator.

He married Bonnie Jean McLeod on October 29th, 1965. Jim was an accountant and tax auditor for the State Lands Commission 30+ years, and retired in 1991. He became a member of Christ Lutheran Church in 1963 and served many years as their financial secretary.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, son Duane McLeod, daughter Janet Luzius, son-in-law Brad Luzius, and grandsons Gregory and Timothy Luzius. Jim was a dedicated and loving husband/father/grandfather who's family always came first. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 7th at Christ Lutheran Church, Costa Mesa. Jim will be laid to rest at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park, in Costa Mesa.
