Born in Walters, OK on February 20, 1921 to John and Ada Holder. “Aldora is one of eleven children and is survived by her sister Doris Nivens of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Aldora was raised in Seymour Texas and moved to California in 1941. She lived in Orange County, CA the majority of her life.

Aldora married Garold Edward Downing in 1944 in Quartzite, AZ and traveled the United States while Garold was serving in the U.S. Army. They settled in Laguna Beach, CA with Garold’s parents for a period of time before moving to Costa Mesa, CA where they raised their daughters Sharron and Donna

Aldora’s daughter, Sharron Etheredge and husband Raymond are of Seabeck, WA her daughter Donna Eggleston is of Newport Beach, CA. Aldora has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her daughter Sharron’s children are: Timothy Etheredge, Thomas Etheredge and Kimberly Burchett. Donna’s children are: Noel Greaux, Ryan Greaux. Her great-grandchildren are Adam, Brian, Allison, Cynthia, Becki and Jonathan.

She was an expert Seamstress and an avid Bowler in her younger years. She was a friend to all she met. No one stayed a stranger.

She was remembered by her family and friends in a private “Celebration of Life” on Sunday, October 27, 2012. She is laid to rest in Costa Mesa, CA at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
