Born on May 6, 1939, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Richard led a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family.
Following his service in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in Japan, Richard transitioned into civilian life, commencing a successful career. He was employed at The Newport Beach Marina, then Ford Motor Company for 20 years before moving on to ITT Cannon, where he retired at the age of 55.
In 1959, Richard married the love of his life, Geraldine Melby, in Costa Mesa, California, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church. Together, they established a life in Costa Mesa, where they raised their three children: Richard (Rick) Mahoney, Sharlene Mahoney Cagle, and Scott Mahoney, along with Geraldine’s brother, Steve Melby. After 52 years of marriage, Geraldine passed away in 2011. Richard carried her memory with him daily.
He is survived by his two children, Sharlene and Scott, his son-in-law Tim Cagle, grandchildren Chelsea and Tim J. Cagle, great-grandson Noah, and his brother-in-law Steve Melby and his family.
Richard Mahoney will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and dedication will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
