Allen Maurice Flint went to be with his Lord on November 14, 2021. Allen was predeceased by his mom Olive Flint and father Harold Flint, brother Harold and brother in law’s John Tweedy and Jack Macaulay and Peter Hildebrand.
Allen was born in McLellan Alberta and was the 2nd child of Harold and Olive. Allen grew up in Union Bay with his 3 siblings Harold, Beryl and Pat and spent many years exploring and adventuring the rivers, forests, and oceans of the Comox Valley. Allen had a full life and a very happy childhood. Allen first came to know the Lord at his mother’s side when he was 4 years old. He often told the story of a little boy in awe of the bigness of God. Allen went to school in Union Bay and later to High School at Courtenay High, he accelerated in his education and graduated at the age of 16.
In 1953 he met Jean Tweedy, through his closest friend John Tweedy, Jeannie’s twin brother. Dad was smitten. Dad, Mom and John were inseparable growing up. John couldn’t understand why Dad wanted to marry “his” sister! Allen and Jean were married in 1959 in Nanaimo, BC and began their new life together.
Dad was active in youth groups, his church and volunteering. Growing up his home church was Union Bay, later in Iife he became a regular preacher at Union Bay. Allen was an active member of Elim Gospel Chapel and elder at the church for many years. Dad loved the Lord. Allen’s other passions were cars and motorcycles. Dad served his mechanic’s apprenticeship under Cyril Burns at Central Garage in Courtenay. Allen went on to work for many places through his career but the best memories we have is the garage at the bottom of Ryan Road, Allen’s 66 a Pacific 66 station. His kids, their friends, the grandpas (Harold Sr. & Jack) and Jeannie all worked at the family business. When Dad moved his business out to the farm, a new era began. His love of BMW motorcycles became more than a hobby and he set up a small repair shop servicing vintage motorcycles. The motorcycle shop was soon a gathering place for tailgate coffee and cookie chats (thanks Jeannie) and solving the world’s problems or helping a friend in need with wise counsel. Dad was an encourager and a wonderful confidante.
Many people remember Allen and his “Einstein’ hair, his quick smile and wonderful laugh. A man who always found time for the “one”. He was generous with his time, kind with his words, a loving and devoted father and husband. He was a loyal friend, a man of integrity, faith and principle. He was everything to us!
Allen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannie. His daughter Dianne (Jordan (Elise) Caitlyn), his son Edward, his wife Rose (Ashley (Jonathon), Ryan, Celyn), three great grand children (Kathryn, Colten, Felicity) and “extra” grandson Joshua. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Beryl Macaulay, Patricia Hildebrand and Lynda Flint, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Allen, Dad, Papa – you will be forever missed – We love you.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26
Service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Northgate Church, 1640 Burgess Road, Courtenay, BC
