I met Bruce and Maureen through our Church but really got to know them when we worked together at our local Soup Kitchen.  Bruce was a problem solver and always ready to help anyone in need.  He truly was a  "gentle"man - kind, caring and compassionate.  I'll remember his great sense of humour which was with him to the end.  He, as does Maureen, had a very deep faith.  He felt he was in God's hands and he faced his journey with courage.  My husband, David,  joins me in sending heartfelt sympathy to Maureen and family.

I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Bruce’s passing.

Although I worked alongside Bruce for only a few years after a buyout by Standard brought us together, it was a great experience, and I learned a great deal from him.

The first thing learned was his genuine kindness and concern for people as he welcomed me to the company and made every effort to make me feel comfortable in the Engineering Dept.

Bruce was a brilliant technical guy and will be missed by his fellow Engineers.

I had the honour and privilege of working with and knowing Bruce H Bedford  for over 25 years.  The greatest complement I could give a person in regards their vocation was that they were a professional.  Bruce was the quintessential professional in every sense of the word. The care and pride he had in his work were legend
The greatest complement I can give a man, is that he was a gentleman.  Bruce was a gentleman by any definition one might have of the word.  Kind, caring, compassionate, incredibly dry sense of humour, with a true concern for all living things...a gentle man.
My wife and I wish to pass on our deepest and most sincere condolences to Maureen and family.  Please know, and hopefully find some solace, knowing that Bruce’s memory lives on, in all of those who were blessed to have known him.

Probably not enough space here to list all the stories and memories. Some of the greatest lines ever from Bruce.....
‘I wouldn’t do that if I was you’...every time we went to him with something we wanted to implement/change.  But he would end up doing it anyway!!!
‘Oh my god a pack of wolves’....when there happened to be a couple of stray dogs roaming around the transmitter site.  
On a more serious note - a great kind man. Would do anything or anyone at anytime. I’ve missed him since he retired and now even more so.  If heaven needs some re-wiring, I’m sure he will be on it!!

When I got the news from Marty Forbes earlier this week, I was absolutely devastated. Still having difficulty with all this. What a great man he was and what a huge impact he left on so many of us. 

Bruce was SO instrumental in the launch of TEAM 1260 (Edmonton) back in June of 2002. I learned very quickly, that while Marty and I made many decisions, if we didn’t have Bruce on-side, it simply  wouldn’t happen. LOL. He really was the ‘can do’ guy at the station. He did it all. 

He was also the no nonsense, stone faced engineer who scared the young broadcasters. I use to watch this ‘performance’ with immense glee as he was anything BUT that persona. I’d watch him lay down the law down in the control room to a few of the young guys, he’d then motion me down the hall to his engineering office where he would break into a huge smile and laugh. That was always my daily goal... get him to crack. He was just so much fun to be around and we always seemed to solve every daily problem. 

At every station event, we always enjoyed chatting with Bruce and Maureen. They were such an original and unique couple who always had a welcoming smile on their faces and invested in every conversation. 

I will miss you a ton. You and Marty were my rock at 1260. But what a memorable legacy you’ve left us Bruce. We won’t disappoint you and we’ll all be sure to pass along the kindness you shared with others.

Bruce and Maureen welcomed Jo-Anne and I to Edmonton when we first arrived in 1986, we attended those beautiful Christmas parties filled with laughter, music, wonderful food and drink. He was beyond devoted to his family and his work, and made us all better for knowing him. 

I have told my children many of Bruce and Maureen's stories over the years, from the hilarious family trips  way up north (that sometimes involved trips to the emergency room) to each of their kids finding their way. 

From Jo-Anne and I, deepest sympathies to Maureen and family. Bruce was a beautiful person and touched all of us with his passion, humor and devotion. 

Hands down the best Engineer I ever worked with.  And such a great guy...there was no problem that he wouldn't  give "100%" to.  He always made time for anybody who needed help and would do emergency calls at anytime 24/7.
As a friend he was terrific and I know how proud he was of his family.

RIP Uncle Bruce.... You were a great Husband and Father . My fondest memory was when I was a child we would fight over the stuffing at Christmas.  You will be truly missed. 

What a wonderful man and friend too many.  Too many memories to narrow them down, but I recall many late nights of work together.  Wonderful family who will miss him dearly.  Hugs to Maureen and the Kids from Steve and his family.
