Mom went to school in Oak Bluff then off to Winnipeg to finish her education and begin her career with Searle Grain Company. Mom met and married Jim Erskine and stayed home to raise her children. Ethel reentered the work place with White Rose Oil which became North Star Oil eventually becoming Shell Oil. Jim passed away and mom married Don Grant also with Shell Oil. They retired and spent their winters in Mesa Arizona and summers in Winnipeg.
After Don passed away Ethel was fortunate to have four friends to help her with her shopping, lunches out and just talking, Linda Ramsey, Maureen Morrice, Barbara Steger and Karen Beasley. The last year of Moms life was spent in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. She often asked out loud, “Why didn’t we move here years ago?”
A heartfelt thanks to the staff at CVSR, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Dr. Theresa Wilson.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at St. James Cemetery, Portage Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba at 4:00pm on Wednesday July 24, 2013.
