We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Holly Lynn Stowell on the morning of May 16, 2026, at the age of 53, at Ocean Front Village Hospice, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Holly will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her greatest treasures, her sons, Adrian and Jared.
Born and raised in Ontario, Holly later made her home in Cumberland, in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. For many years, she worked with School District 71 as a counsellor and support staff member. She considered herself fortunate to truly love both her work and the people she worked alongside.
Holly had a deep passion for travel and explored extensively throughout her life. She especially loved running, skiing, kayaking, and camping in her beloved Westfalia van. It was through her kayaking adventures that she discovered and fell in love with Quadra Island, where she proudly built an ocean-view cottage that became a cherished gathering place for her and the boys.
Holly was predeceased by her parents, Diane Nicholls and Barry Stowell; her grandparents, Violet and Art Nicholls, and Edith and Abel Stowell. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Grant; her uncle George (Nancy); and her cousins Mike, Robert (Sam) Nicholls, and Dave (Jodi) Nicholls.
Throughout her illness, Holly faced each day with remarkable strength, resilience, and unwavering determination. Despite the many challenges she endured, she remained a constant source of warmth, kindness, compassion, and love to all who knew her.
Interment will take place at a later date at Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough, Ontario.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Holly’s health care teams over the years, and especially to the extraordinary staff at Ocean Front Village Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support. Every member of the hospice team went above and beyond in caring for Holly and her family.
If so desired any donations in Holly’s memory may be made to the Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Research Team or the Comox Valley Hospice Society.
