Sadly , we announce the death of Jim (Kibe) Boyle on March 18, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Jim had a stroke at home and while in the hospital his major organs failed. His wife, June, was beside him witnessing his very peaceful passing.
Jim was born in Petrolia, Ont. 71 years ago to Matthew Thomas Boyle and Mary Angela Mackesy Boyle (deceased). He is survived by a sister, Marie Clark and brother Jack Boyle and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings William, (Gloria Hawkins), Patricia Robbins (James), Joanne Corman (Don) and Colleen Workman.
Jim worked at various chemical plants in Sarnia, Ont. and had the ability to learn many trades. Because of his self-taught handyman skills he ably provided many fix-its and home renovations for himself and others and later carried this talent to BC.
In 1974 he married June Lunn and they made a home at Errol Beach in Camlachie, Ont. In 2002, when all the stars aligned, they discovered a home at Saratoga Beach in Black Creek on the east coast of Vancouver Island.
He was summoned by the big salmon and halibut and learned to read the ocean from his many fishing friends and neighbours. Jim loved to show off the wondrous sights of his new home to the many people who visited. They spread the word about his smoked salmon, breakfast waffles, fruit pies and melt in your mouth spare ribs. Travelling increased his menu as he loved tasting new foods from the many countries that he and June experienced. Coming home meant copying his favourite dishes and buying exotic ingredients.
Please remember Jim as the bubbly, quick-witted guy who loved a good party and his loyal friends. He was easy going but could move very quickly if anyone said, “Let’s go fishing!”
There are so many people who enriched his life. We will all miss his perfect comments spouted at the perfect time.
There will be a Celebration of Jim’s life in Black Creek when the weather gets warmer and his ashes will be taken to Sarnia later in the summer for another Celebration and burial. Announcements will be made at the appropriate time.
Donations in Jim’s name, to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Dr. Rachel MacKenzie, to the various dermatologists, to the teams at the transplant clinics in Victoria and Nanaimo and to the specialty physicians who treated Jim at the Comox Valley Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Your care and empathy in treating Jim will always be remembered.
