

While it is possible to receive good counsel from a wide circle of family and friends, few could do it with the skill and aptitude of Mrs Jane Elizabeth Luke. She had a true talent for helping others reach their full potential and brought out the best in those who sought her help. Jane was a forward-looking woman whose personality was filled with empathy toward everyone she met. She could be quiet and reserved, but her style of communication was authentic and direct. An excellent communicator, Jane was a master at using imagery when she explained her ideas and concepts. She seemed to have an endless supply of innovative concepts and strategies for how to help those around her. Her sensitivity, kindness and generous attitude made her a wonderful friend for all who knew her.
From the time she was born on December 25, 1952, Jane showed a deep concern for others. She was a giving and caring individual, ethical and full of integrity and warmth. Jane came into this world at St. Joseph's Hospital, Galahad, AB in Galahad, Alberta. Her parents were Mack & Helen Fewster. Jane was raised in Galahad, Red Deer, Edmonton.
Because fellowship was so important to her, Jane promoted harmony with her siblings. She was raised with one sibling. She had one sister Mona. Jane was something of the family diplomat. She helped to settle problems and conflicts and kept the family running smoothly.
As a young girl, Jane interacted well with other children. She was helpful. She was an independent person who had a vivid imagination. Jane had a number of interests in her youth. She was an active child. She enjoyed attending church with her parents in Galahad. In her spare time she liked learn piano. Jane's memorable achievements included.
A good student who was enthusiastic about learning, Jane was considered by many to be a high achiever. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite courses and teachers.
Jane's talents in writing proved to be an asset for her during her college years. She excelled in classes, even in some subjects that didn't’t particularly interest her. Jane became known to her peers as a seeker of wisdom who appreciated all types of courses, especially those in Liberal Arts which allowed her to build on her remarkable retention of general knowledge. She earned her Nursing Diploma from SAIT (The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). She also pursued graduate school, earning her Practical Nursing Diploma.
Able to maintain a positive focus on the potential good to be found in others, Jane was always ready with solid advice and guidance to offer her group of friends. She was generally friendly to all who knew her, yet to some she seemed quite independent. For those who really knew Jane, they recognized that she could be full of surprises. Jane enjoyed a small but solid group of true friends. She would willingly support those friends when they needed it. Because of her ability to read people, she had an uncanny knack for knowing when a friend needed help. While growing up, some of her best friends were Diana, Diane.
Jane was romantic, even poetic at times. She was completely devoted to family and friends, able to show her emotions without going overboard about it.
All who knew her would agree that there was a certain kind of magic in how Jane was able to bond with her children. While she could be a firm disciplinarian, she could also fill the role of being a collaborator with her kids. Jane was always a mentor who helped her family reach its full potential. Jane was blessed with Two Children, Mack David and Cynthia Kathleen. They were also blessed with Two grandchildren, Thia and Makayla.
Jane projected a subtle but positive influence in her workplace. She was comfortable working behind the scenes to help everyone get their job done, and she worked hard at all times to help others to reach their highest potential. While her colleagues did not view her as a high-spirited type, Jane was effective at working with others to gain acceptance for her ideas. Jane could be a perfectionist at times, but wasn’t one to seek out personal recognitions. She possessed excellent insight and a strong ability to meet schedules. She was an innovator who worked well independently, and she enjoyed the task of meeting a constant array of challenges. Her primary occupation was licensed practical nurse. She was employed for 20 plus years.
As an imaginative and inventive person, Jane was comfortable showing her creative spirit. She enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Once Jane took on a new project, she saw it through to its completion. Her favorite times were travel on road trips and camping with her family. She was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Jane was a woman with clear convictions and high principles, and her faith was important to her. She was an inspiration to many people who recognized her sense of commitment and esteem for others. She was a member Christian Faith. During that time, she observed her faith in private and within the communities she lived.
Jane possessed strong skills in long-range planning and project completion, a quality that positively influenced her travel and vacation planning. Favorite vacations included Yellowstone Park, Sunshine Coast and camping throughout British Columbia.
Jane was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Jane's favorites was Otis a white Terrier who kept her active always out walking the neighborhood in Comox Valley B. C. They were best friends for 10 years. Her family was rounded out by her numerous cats over the years including Two Shoes a Calico, Taz, PT, Sweety, Bondo, plus her black lab Sampson and her Pomeranian Peanut.
As someone who treasured harmony and quiet, Jane accepted retirement and made the most of it. That day finally came in 2000, and Jane was well prepared. Her new life involved remaining in the Comox Valley with her children and pets close by. In retirement, she found new pleasure in gardening planting trees shrubs flowers and variety of herbs. Caring for her pets and spending time with her adult children.
Jane passed away on November 4, 2019 at Vancouver General Hospital. She had a stroke her daughter found her and immediately called for ambulance. Services were held at Piercys Mount Washington Funeral Home. Jane's ashes will be scattered in the Comox Harbor near the Filberg Tea House.
Though she could be a private person at times, Jane was always able and willing to give of herself. She was so in tune with others that she often seemed able to read their minds. Jane carried with her an almost mystical sense of life. She was a person who was highly original in her thinking and used metaphors and symbols to describe many aspects of her life. A poetic, intuitive “teacher”, Mrs Jane Elizabeth Luke shared herself freely and family and friends will remember Jane for the strength of her convictions.

The Luke family is sad to announce the passing of Jane Elizabeth Luke.
Jane was born in Galahad Alberta to Parents Mack & Helen Fewster on December 25, 1952. Her sister Mona Kathleen was born June 19, 1959. Jane cherished time with her little sister very much throughout her life.
An education in nursing combined with her compassionate nature led to a career working as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
After completing her nursing training she met Ronald Allen Luke. They were married for 18 years residing in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and on Vancouver Island within the Comox Valley. She was widowed by husband Ron’s passing in 1996. Survived by her son Mack David Luke and daughter Cynthia Kathleen Luke her daughter In-law Miechel Micabalo Luke plus her grand daughters Thia and Makayla who were both fond of their Grandma Jane. She also leaves behind her beloved friend and loyal companion “Otis”. Her role as a mother was very important to her. She was a nurturing and loving mom who valued everyday spent with her children and family.
Jane was caring, honest and always made time for others. Truly a selfless person she will be missed by all who knew her kind gentle ways.
