David was born in Sutton, Surrey in the UK on November 16, 1928.
He is predeceased by his siblings Madeline Pittaway (nee Fuller) and Michael Fuller, his wife Margaret McLeod Fuller (nee Peddie) on March 24, 2018 and daughter Alison Claire Bennett (nee Fuller) on May 20, 2013. He is survived by his son Mark Lowndes Fuller, daughter-in-law Rhonda Fuller, son-in-law David Bennett (Beth) and grandchildren Nicola, Kevin, Scott and Ian along with three nieces and their families, Julie Hardie and Tracy Scannell in England, and Michelle Kuo in Phoenix.
David was a teenager on the outskirts of London during World War Two and delighted in searching for unexploded bombs after air raids. After the Second World War he trained as an engineer in the army and was posted to Kenya and Egypt, among other places.
He met his Scottish wife Margaret while on a cycling trip through Scotland and Wales and they emigrated to Canada in the 1950s. David worked in Thunder Bay, Vancouver and eventually settled in Victoria working as a civil engineer for the provincial government.
He and Margaret raised their children Mark and Alison in the Gordon Head area of Victoria and had many happy years there. He always enjoyed being close to the ocean and spent many week-long boating holidays with his family exploring BC's many islands and inlets. He and Margaret also enjoyed sports at the Racquet Club and having barbecues and get-togethers with their many friends.
David eventually began a 36 year long retirement and moved with Margaret to the waterfront home he built on Hornby Island. After many happy years on Hornby they moved to Courtenay's Crown Isle community. David loved his home and in recent years enjoyed sitting on his beautiful patio watching birds and golfers on the seventeenth fairway.
A kind and loving husband and father, David was also a true Renaissance man. Engineer, designer, builder, watercolor artist, gardener, avid fisherman, winemaker, pianist, and a lover of cats and classical music.
He was first and foremost a people person. He was happiest when socializing with family and friends old and new.
There will be no formal funeral service. David will be laid to rest in Royal Oak Cemetery in Victoria, next to his beloved wife Margaret.
