On Thursday, January 12, Louise Helene Schell, beloved wife, passed away. She was fifty-three years old. Born on April 17, 1969 to Roberta and Norman Tilbe, Louise graduated from the University of BC with a Bachelor’s of Arts in French and a minor in Art in 1997. She joined the military reserve after university and became part of the 6 Engineer Squadron. When she started they wanted to know why she was there since she had a degree. She told them she wanted to blow things up! Louise went on to become a police officer with the VPD and was sworn in on September 2, 1998. She worked her way up and became a Homicide Detective.
Jeff and Louise met in jail. She was the wagon driver at the time and Jeff was a jail guard. They were married on March 2, 2002. They were together for over twenty-four years. They both had long careers in the VPD.
Louise loved animals. She had Guinea pigs and dogs growing up. She loved to run with her dogs. She and Jeff together had the most amazing dogs, including Barney and Lucy when they lived on the north shore, and Ana when they moved from North Vancouver to Courtenay and most recently puppies, sisters, Piper and Izzy. Louise loved art. She was an avid painter. There was always a conversation whenever someone new saw one of her paintings. Louise had a great sense of style and she and Jeff built a beautiful house together in Courtenay.
Louise is survived by her husband Jeff, her father Norman, and brothers Mark (Dwayne), Michael, Robert (Karen). She was predeceased by her mother Roberta.
A service will be held at a later date in Vancouver. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA.
