B. July 27, 1928 Revelstoke, B.C.
Beloved husband father and friend. Morris “Moe” Woodland was the youngest of seven children, all raised in Revelstoke. A man who smiled easily, laughed much, and who possessed a great wit, Moe made everyone feel at ease. He loved to be outdoors, working in the garden, or hiking the creeksides fishing for trout. He was also an accomplished carver, creating beautiful sculptures in wood, stone and bone. Moe was a prolific reader who loved history, biography, humour and the classic spy novel.
Having survived the great depression in an impoverished family, he found a way to attend UBC and graduated as a pharmacist in 1953. He worked many years in New Westminster, and in 1971 built the pharmacy in Sicamous, BC. He finished his career around 1990 and embarked on many years of active retirement, gardening, travelling, and enjoying the company of others with his beloved wife Madeleine. In 2015 they moved to Comox to be close to family. Moe was hospitalized with pneumonia in April this year, and died in his own home the night of June 9. He was surrounded by the love of family. A true warrior, Moe was sharp of mind and strong of spirit until the end. He truly lived the examined life. His family is forever grateful for his presence. A noble soul. He has taken the hand of the Great Friend. May the Blessings Be!
Survived by wife madeleine; children Catherine (Brian), James (Lisa) and Patrick (Katherine)’ grandchildren Rachel (Marcos), Patrick, Emma, Oliver and Ethan. Pre-deceased by beloved son Christopher.
A ceremony celebrating Moe’s life will be held in Sicamous, BC later this year.
Arrangements under the direction of Piercy's-Mt. Washington Funeral Home, Courtenay, BC.
