

Born on January 14, 1930, in Red Pheasant, Saskatchewan, Shirley was known for her warm and friendly nature, touching the lives of many with her generosity and kindness.
Shirley was deeply committed to her community and her faith, actively participating in the Black Creek Mennonite Brethren Church in the 1970's and 80's, and thereafter, the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church. She was active with After 5 and the Christian Women's Club. Her hobbies, which included drawing, painting, gardening, and writing poetry, not only brought her joy, but connected her to new friends.
Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Robert Peterson (Rose); daughter, Christy Raynolds (Zack); grandchildren, Scott Todd (Shelley), Tanya Cowin (Ashley), Christine Todd, Mark Peterson (Ashley), AJ Raynolds (Kyle), and Maceo Raynolds; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Alexander, Collen, Torrin and Dominic. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Darin Peterson; her daughter, Heather Todd Mooy; grandchildren, Pandora Peterson and Randy Todd; and husbands, Earle Peterson and Bill Turner.
A service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at the Parksville Fellowship Baptist Church, 550 Pym Street, Parksville, BC, on August 10, 2024, at 1 pm, followed by a tea gathering. Shirley's family invites those who knew her to join in remembering and celebrating her life.
