

Irene Elizabeth Hamilton died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Regency Grand in West Covina, her home for three (3) years. Irene was born Irene Elizabeth Stewart on August 8, 1920, in Holdingford, Minnesota. When she was 7, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her Mother, Emma, and Step-Father, Clarence Forciea. She graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles, and married the love of her life, John Grady Hamilton on September 14, 1945. They honeymooned in San Francisco at the St Francis Hotel.
Irene and John Hamilton lovingly raised their family in Rosemead, California. John passed away on August 6, 1978. They enjoyed family and friends, and loved dancing, card games, and Santa Anita Horse Racing with family and friends, and traveled often to Las Vegas. After John’s death, Irene lived in West Covina and La Verne. Her travels included visits to San Francisco, Minnesota, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Reno, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Colorado River House Boat, Cabo San Lucas, and several cruises to the Caribbean, Mexican Rivera, and Alaska. She also visited her daughter in the Oxnard-Port Hueneme area.
Irene worked as an Order Desk Clerk for Bostitch for approximately 30 years, and was a homemaker. She excelled as a loving and supportive Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, and Sister. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, superb cook, hostess, and seamstress. She loved her children and grandchildren and provided ever ending support and joy.
She had a zest for life and is survived by her son, Steven Hamilton of La Verne, CA; her daughter, Cheryl Hamilton of Port Hueneme, CA; her Grandson, Bret of Pasadena, CA; her Granddaughter, Lindsay La Porte and her husband Matt of San Dimas, CA; and her sister, Lois Ortiz of Murrieta, CA.
