

23,2013. He earned his M.D. at Creighton University in Omaha, and he completed an internship
in Internal Medicine at Providence Hospital in Seattle and his residency at Presbyterian Hospital
in San Francisco. Following a Clinical Fellowship in allergy, immunology and rheumatology at
Scripps Clinic in LaJolla, he entered private practice in allergy and nutrition in Covina, California,
where he practiced for over 40 years. A pioneer in darkfield microscopy, "Doc" consulted with
some of the nation's leading vitamin manufacturers. He authored "Silent Clots-Life's Biggest
Killer," wrote numerous medical articles, held two medical patents, and spoke regularly at
events offered by the American Preventive Medical Assn., the International College of Applied
Nutrition & the National Health Federation. Jim will be remembered for his tennis drop shot
and his boundless enthusiasm and infectious smile, but mostly for his faith and conviction.
Jim was preceded in death by parents James & Evelyn, daughter Melanie, and brother Tony. He
is survived by wife Gail, children Deborah (& Matthew) Kilroe (Falls Church, VA), Mark (Covina),
and Daniel, Timothy (& Katie), Sean (& Nicole) (all of Omaha); step-children Tim (& Bobbi)
Olson, Steve (& Rosie) Olson; grand-children Brendan Privitera and Devin, Tara, Tyler, Michael
& Samantha Olson; and numerous nephews & nieces.
