Today we had a wonderful surprise in that we read Lennon's sweet expression of love and remembrance to her Daddy! Her loving words led us to reading the many other letters of family and friends, of long ago. Lennon's is the most recent. She is keeping  Marc's memory alive and present! What a wonderful girl she is. She has the same spirit of love and grace that her Daddy has. We cherish his memory each day of our lives. Your loving Pop, Xavier

Dear Daddy, i love you up to the sky and I always will. I hope you are having a great time in heaven. I miss you but i will surely survive. I just started middle school a few weeks ago and i love it. I am in all honers and 7th grade math. Alaric and mom say hi. Love you up to the sky always.

Dear Denice, Lenon and Aleric: It is so difficult to find words that would give you some semblance of "comfort". It's been difficult for me and that is why I took so long to address you. However; though life has tremendous hardships to deal to us, it also has its almost contradictory yet significant benefits. What I'm talking about is your  extremely good fortune to have had a man as a husband and father that expressed so much empathy which he shared together with a tremendous positiveness to impart with the world around him. You, Denice had the good fortune to have received his love and understanding. For Lenon and Aleric, to have had their outlook in life formed with Brightness and Beauty by you and their Dad. You are all truly Blessed despite this difficult time. I'm certain that Marc's influence will continue to guide you and the children as you make a monumental effort to go on with life.You are a very strong young woman and God knows you have what it takes to bring your family through this tremendous hardship. Dearest Marc, though these word no longer find you on this earth, know that you have left a wonderful indelible mark on every person you touched in your earthly journey. 

Little did I know, as your Tia, what a wonderful person you would become. Your Mom and Dad are to be highly respected for the unwaivering support they have given to you, your sister and your brother. They are the "Pillars of Strength" in this Family. With their Love, you grew from a tender seedling to a true Champion for those who needed to be acknowledged and supported so as to be able to develop their own potential. I am so very proud to also have received your kindness and consideration.

You are sorely missed. I do take some comfort in knowing that you are with the loved ones that have gone before you; Nana Lupe, Nana Clem, Nana Queta who was also a Wonderful Teacher. You are keeping Very Good company, my dear. "God's Good Graces are with you." Remember? That was one of my last text messages to you. Know that I see you all when I look up to the stars. Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes, inciting and inviting me to rise. And through the window in the wall come streaming in on sunlight wings a million bright ambassadors of morning.

And no one sings me lullabies and no one makes me close my eyes. So I throw the windows wide and call to you across the sky.

My dearest Marc: I still cannot fathom that you are no longer here with us in this earthly life. I still feel your presence, however, wherever I go, and I see your image in my mind and in my heart. I am constantly reviewing your life, and the precious moments and the long years of your love for and with us. I think often of the time you were born, with your full head of hair that was amazing. I remember holding you in my bare chest sitting on a chair to comfort your colic and your cries. You stuck to my skin with your own bare chest; that is when I named you “fly”, my beautiful fly. I remember the times when you were a Cub and then a Boy Scout: the many meetings we went to and how excited you always were in being a great scout. In particular, I remember the day that you announced to us with pride “I am going to be the flag bearer!” You were so thin and slender in your youth. I still have your precious Boy Scout belt, decorated with your badges earned. Soon you became taller and a young independent man, I then gave you the nickname “String Bean”..do you remember? After many years, when you had left your home here at 1707, you then became my “Long One”. I loved calling you that, and I still do so in my mind and in my dreams all the time.
I remember the many parties we had here at home, and all your friends of so many different walks of life that you brought to us to become as our own; we love them each and every one, and will do so always. I recall telling some of them, when you were 14 years or so how I felt about you. I told them that you had come to us from heaven, and that our only job was to care for you; that you had your own destiny already in your mind, and that you had chosen your own path. We only gave you wonderful experiences .. movies, vacations, museum visits, and music, along with food, shelter and an education. These are some of the precious things that you loved and you passed them on to those that you yourself nurtured throughout your life. You always gave me and your mom the greatest respect and love, and you told many people how you treasured us. Thank you for that. There is much more to tell.. I could go on recalling for a lifetime. 
Now, I have to say good-bye to your presence here, knowing that you still surround us with your spirit and soul, and with your love. I will see you soon, when it is my turn to join you.

Beloved Marc, first born son ... from the first moment I held you in my arms you filled my heart with incredible love,joy and happiness. Watching you grow to the awesome human being you became was an incredible journey for me as your mother. We are blessed to have Marc, our cousin, as a member of our family.  A sincere genuine person, the first person when I thought of when I read that quote.  We miss you Marc. Love you up the sky.

I remember Marc when he was about 21 and had very long beautiful hair.  He was always a very respectful young man and I cared very much for him as well as my family did.  I know that where ever he went, he gave of himself and I'm truly sorry he had to leave his love ones so young.

Marc was one of my first social work professors. He fueled my love for child welfare and the love of giving without expecting anything in return. He was an amazing person. May God comfort your family on this tremendous loss.

I can best describe Marc as a gentle spirit with an edge to him.  I got to know Marc in graduate school. As I was busy looking clean cut and preppy, Marc stayed true to his comfortable self; rockin' long hair, t-shirt, jeans and Doc Martens. Marc was compassionate, funny, cool, and always always had a heart for the under served & under privileged. He knew how to work and play. He not only impacted me in a positive way, he impacted my then girlfriend and now my wife of 17 yrs.  Our earthly community lost a good man on Sept. 20th, we lost a good man.. Send my love to my parents up there Marc...

Marc  and I worked together. Marc lived what most people take a lifetime trying to achieve loving others unconditionally.  Marc showed me what it means to inspire others and bring out the best in others.  Each day in the classroom Marc showed others he loved his family,  being a Social Worker and a Humanitarian. I will truly miss him but his kindness will live on in my heart.  To his family, thank you for lending Marc to us. My prayers of peace and comfort are with you all.

I can honestly say that meeting Marc was a life changing experience for me. I first met Marc through a mutual friend  after moving to San Diego just over 20 years ago. He quickly became one of my favorite people to hang out with.  I would look forward to the weekends when I would visit him in L.A. Marc exposed me to some amazing music, film, and the L.A. nightlife, but ultimately he exposed me to the beauty of diversity which was so profound for me at the time. To me, Marc was the epitome of "cool." I have so many great memories from during that time that still bring a big smile to my face. 
Marc later inspired and encouraged me to further pursue my education and a career in Social Work. Marc mentored me throughout that process and for this I will remain forever grateful to him.
It's still hard to believe that you are gone so soon.

I was honored by the fact that I knew Marc  as my brother-in-law,family and friend. Marc graced our family from the begining with whole hearted love and the gift of his soul. Hello Marc,
You have been a true inspiration to me ever since I started working here at CSULA. I will remember our many wonderful conversations and laughs, as well as your smile, spiritual energy and sheer will to make our world a better place. I'm grateful we became friends and that I had the opportunity to meet Denice, Lennon, Alaric and many of your family members over the past several months.  You have such an incredible and loving family. While you may not be here physically, I know you are still with me and all of us each day in spirit and love. We will do our part to support your family and - most of all - to remember and honor you and your kindness, generosity and dedication each and every day. You are a one-of-kind human being...Rest well, my friend.

Marc was a leader and role model to all of us.  He enriched our lives by introducing us to music, art, movies, and culture.  He had a passion for learning and mentoring others.  Marc, brother, I will never forget you.

My older brother, Marc taught me many life lessons. The most important lesson is to be courageous in the face of adversity. He amazed everyone with his relentless will to fight for his life despite all the challenges he faced. He left this earth in the most honorable way a person could. Marc will be remembered by his namesake, “god of war,” for the way he lived, loved and advocated for what he believed in. His legacy will live on forever.

Marc was my friend, my mentor, my teacher, my protector, and my brother. He was the type of person who would bend over backwards for you in a heartbeat. His legacy lives on through his loving wife and amazing children. I will never forget you and the impact you had on my life. Watch over us bro!

Marc was a colleague and valued friend. His concern for others and his willingness to take care of his duties were remarkable. My sincere thoughts and wishes are with his family.

I would of felt lucky to have met Marc at any point in our lives, but I met him when I was a teenager.  A teenager experiencing many first in life.  I'm so grateful Marc was there along side me as I went along my journey.  He was a natural leader to a group of young men that so desperately needed one.  As time went on his leadership role dwindle, and he help us in defining our own roles as leaders.  He was always a great listener, and so much fun to laugh with.
