Michael Jack Veal was born December 7, 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia to his loving parents Lester Jack and Patricia Anne. Twenty-six months later his brother Kenny was born. During his early childhood years Mike loved to go find water for him and Kenny to drop their fishing lines in. They would often bring home the evening’s main course for Ninnie or mom to prepare. At the age of eleven Mike moved to California with his mom and brother. He quickly adopted and loved his new surroundings by making friends and losing his southern accent. At the age of eighteen Mike produced the first of his three beloved children, Amber, a golden haired beauty that was the apple of his eye. During the same period he started his career in Aerospace at Sargeant Fletcher’s in El Monte, California. This also marks the period when his affection for fishing grew with a preference for the deep seas.
Mike had many interests. Football (Atlanta Falcons), Poker, betting the horses, charity to others, riding his beach cruiser, coffee, watching movies, loud music, big screen TV’s, and yes … a beer and a cigarette.
In 1985 Mike met the love of his life, Marlene. From the very start they fell madly in love with each other. Each passing year and its triumphs more fulfilling than the last because, they did it together. They were married at the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas November 7, 1987. His second beloved child, Mikey, was born on May 3, 1990. Mikey inherited a family illness which almost took his life at two months of age. Fortunately, through surgery he was healed with no lasting ill effects. His third beloved child, Marc, joined the family March 7, 1992. Marc was born healthy and very happy almost never shedding a tear instead offering a happy face at every turn. Mike loved his family first. He was always steadfast in caring for all those that he loved.
Mike also loved his friends and colleagues. If he was your friend, you had a friend for life. His devotion for all those he cared for was committed and ran deep. He often lamented how he wanted to spend more time with this person or that person during his evening chats with Marlene. He just wanted to be with and love more than this life would allow.
To all those he touched … He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in season, whose leaf also shall not whither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper. To him we request … Be strong my refuge, to which we may resort continually; for you are our rock and our fortress.
