With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our mother, Annette DeShazo Fourcade, lovingly known as "Mimi".
A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Cabot, Arkansas, and the last 5 years in Mandeville, Louisiana. No matter where she lived, her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, music, food, and open doors.
Annette never met a stranger. She had a rare and beautiful gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her home was always open to friends, family, neighbors, and anyone ministering the word. When missionaries visited her home, they were welcomed with a meal and heartfelt conversation. She never turned anyone away.
Annette was a practicing Catholic who loved the Lord deeply and cherished the beauty of hymns and worship. Music filled her home- love songs, dancing songs, and anything that gave her a reason to celebrate. Annette truly loved to dance, and her joy was contagious.
She found pure joy in her dogs, her babies. She found happiness vacationing in Gatlinburg, Disney World, Las Vegas, and the Gulf Coast casinos. She adored her secret garden where she threw unforgettable parties, especially her famous Karaoke Oktoberfest celebrations. If there was music playing, Mimi was either dancing or encouraging someone else to sing.
Annette's generosity was quiet but powerful. Everyone remembers the fun of her Christmas mornings opening up all the gifts. However, MiMi furthered the beauty in giving during Christmas, privately offering presents to those in need. Mom would always roll down her window and give money to someone experiencing homelessness. Her magnetism was undeniable- people were drawn to her kindness, strength, and vibrant spirit.
She was an entrepreneur and caregiver. She shopped for groceries and cared for people who needed assistance. Taking care of others wasn't just something she did; it was who she was.
Above all, Annette loved her children and grandchildren. She was endlessly proud of every one of them.
Her legacy is one of generosity, faith, music, hospitality, family, and love. She will be deeply missed, but the joy she planted in her family and others will continue to bloom for generations.
Annette was the loving wife of the late Noel Maurice Fourcade until his passing in 2004. She was the devoted mother of Gaynell Ross (Kenneth), Dr. Dominick Alongi (Katherine), Desiree Tharpe (Randle), and Chad DeShazo (Dawn). Loving stepmother of Jill Fourcade. She was the proud "Mimi" of Dr. Kenneth Ross II, Dominick Alongi, Giovanni Alongi, Gabriella Alongi, Giuliana Alongi, Zoe Brianna, Lexi Rhianna, Madison Gray, Leila DeShazo, Benjamin DeShazo, and Vivienne DeShazo. Great-Grandmother of River Gray. Daughter of the late Thelma Madere DeShazo and Hugh Angelo DeShazo. Sister of Marsha Ann Fouquet (Louis Fouquet, Jr.) She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
A Memorial Mass for Annette will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, LA 70433 at 3PM, with Visitation beginning at 12PM.
