

Audrey Mae Marquez Pitre passed away at the age of 87 on March 29, 2026 at their home peacefully with family by her side in Mandeville, Louisiana. She was born on October 5, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Audrey was the beloved wife of William J. Pitre, Sr. for 65 years. She was the loving mother of Donna P. Melancon (Mark), William J. Pitre, Jr. (Charlotte), Robert J. Pitre (Wendy), Curtis B. Pitre (Suzanne) (the late Danielle), Rebecca P. Ansardi (Jeffrey). She was the proud Grand Maw-Maw of twenty-five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Sister of Edward B. Marquez, Jr. (Sharon). Audrey is preceded in death by her parents; Edward and Loretta Marquez, her sisters; Joycelyn and Gloria, her daughter-in-law Danielle, and her grandsons; Curtis Jr. and Tommy Jr.
Audrey and William (Bill) married on May 7, 1960 and lived in Arabi, Louisiana. They moved to the Chalmette Vista area and began their family; raising four children there. They moved to Buccaneer Villa North, where they welcomed their fifth child. They had a great life there with their five children. Audrey coached at Vista Park and she loved to bowl at Sugarbowl Lanes in a league. Audrey was a homemaker. (She did work before they got married at the Jung Hotel in New Orleans.) She enjoyed spending quality time with the kids at The Swim Club, doing sports, boating, picnics, trawling, fishing, crawfishing or camping. She was always up for anything.
Audrey and Bill always wanted to live on the water. In the late 90's, they finally moved to Bay St. Louis. She loved her life on the water. She was a great hostess to so many family members and friends who would come to visit or stay over at their house. They loved having company there. Audrey also enjoyed spending time at the casinos as well.
Audrey and Bill recently moved to Mandeville, Louisiana a few years ago. They would take many trips to the Gulf Coast to go eat and gamble.
She was an amazing Wife, Mother, Grand Maw-Maw, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She never met a stranger.
She will be remembered for always being there for everyone. She loved to attend all events for family or friends. She never wanted to miss anything. She was always our biggest cheerleader.
Visitation for Audrey will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Grace Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana beginning at 12:00PM. There will be a mass following visitation at 2:00PM.
