Carl was a man of integrity, humor, and deep love for his family. He was a Marine Corps veteran who carried the values of service and resilience throughout his life.
After serving his country in the military, he went on to build a career in the fields of civil engineering and construction, and served his community as the Director of Public Works for the City of Covington.
He met his wife, Rita, in Franklin, Louisiana, and together they built a life centered on community and family. Their two daughters were his greatest pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to remind them of his love, often with a daily phone call. Later in life, his grandchildren became his delight, and he took great pride in their accomplishments.
Though Carl faced personal battles, he found redemption and purpose in helping others. He became a steadfast supporter of his fellow man, speaking at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, mentoring veterans, and volunteering with the Kairos prison outreach program. He had a special compassion for hardworking individuals and believed deeply in the healing power of sharing one’s personal story.
Carl loved to cook and fish, enjoy a good laugh, and share his wisdom with those closest to him. Behind his humor was a man who quietly struggled but remained strong, kind and dedicated to his family and faith, finding solace in a good song and his dog Sadie.
A kind and generous man, Carl’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and those whose lives he enriched.
