Charles E. ‘Charley’ Hoffman was born August 28, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ and passed on October 25, 2021 in Mandeville, LA at the age of 91. Charley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. He had time for anyone who needed help, advice, or information. He was a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology, and earned a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the same institution. His career spanned 40 years with Exxon between Bayonne, NJ, and his eventual retirement in Baton Rouge, LA in 1992. He married the love of his life, Bernice H. Hoffman in 1953. They loved to travel together, and with friends and family, and visited numerous countries worldwide. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles F. Hoffman and Marie M. Hoffman, his sister, Elaine Nauer, and is survived by his brother, Richard Hoffman. Charley loved his family dearly and enjoyed every minute with his three children, Charles E. Hoffman, Jr., Robert D. Hoffman (Carol), and Hope H. Wilson (Richard), and his five grandchildren, Lindsay Burrer (Evan), Reed and Blake Wilson, and Hayley and Maddie Hoffman, and his one great grandchild, Wilson Burrer. Charley was active at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington, LA, and especially enjoyed his time with the Holy Mackerels Senior Group. He also enjoyed the Fleur De Lis Club (Exxon retirees), Coast Senior Center and Northshore Men’s Club in Mandeville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the General Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, LA on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:30 am, with visitation at the church starting at 10:30 am.
