Charles "Max" Jacobs

Charles “Max” Maxwell Jacobs, 88, of Covington, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 19, 1937, in Madisonville, Kentucky, to the late Charles Theodore Jacobs and Netty Wright Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Max was raised in Kentucky and earned his master’s degree in Geology from the University of Kentucky. Following graduation, his career in the oil industry brought him to south Louisiana in 1961. He began working for Chevron, where he spent ten years before venturing out on his own. Over the years, Max worked for several companies and even formed his own, becoming a true adventurer in the oil business. He was involved in multiple wildcat wells across South Louisiana and proudly served in many roles, including Geologist, Landman, and Petroleum Engineer. Max remained passionate about his work and continued in the industry until his retirement in 2013.

Known for his outgoing personality, Max cherished his time spent with friends, often found enjoying conversation from his favorite bar stool at Fazzio’s.

An accomplished athlete, Max played baseball, basketball, and golf in his younger years and maintained a lifelong commitment to fitness, spending countless hours at the gym. His love of sports extended to coaching, where he devoted himself to coaching his sons’ youth teams in baseball, football, and basketball. In later years, Max developed a deep passion for deer and duck hunting and proudly displayed many trophies that reflected his love for the outdoors.

Max is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Yvonne Jacobs; his sons, Charles Steven (Monique) Jacobs, James Scott (Jenny) Jacobs, and Catlin Wright Jacobs; his grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Caroline, McKenzie, and Holden; and his great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Noah, Wilson, Maxwell, Teddy, and Atlas. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
