Our beloved Donna Sue Singleton Berggren passed from this earthly home on December 12th, 2020, surrounded by her loving family into the arms of our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Donna was born on April 5th, 1960 in Atmore, Alabama. She attended Escambia County High School. Upon moving to Louisiana, she met and married her devoted husband of 37 years, Wayne Joseph Berggren and they resided in Mandeville, Louisiana. Donna and Wayne have four children: Brooks Joseph Berggren (Jennifer) of Mandeville, LA, Lauren Elizabeth B. Bleszinski (Cliff) Raleigh, NC, Steven Karl Berggren (Sean) of Mandeville, LA, and Lacey Marie Berggren (Ryan) of Los Angeles, CA. Donna was known as “Dee-Dee" to her four precious grandchildren: Riley Ann Berggren, Brooks Joseph Berggren Jr, Lillian Joyce Berggren and Vincent Finn Berggren. Her joy was complete in her blessings of family. Left behind to cherish her memories with her immediate family are her sisters: Eugenia Biancucci of White City, OR, and Renee Pitzer (Floyd) of Franklinton, LA; Sister-in-law: Patricia (Tricia) Berggren Greeley (John) of Baton Rouge, LA; Brother-in-law: Blake Short (Grants Pass, OR); Nieces and Nephews: Brandi, Robbie, Colby, Joseph, Cortney, Josh, Kim, Patsy, Jeannie, Chad and Kelly; with numerous great nieces and great nephews. All of whom were special to her. Donna received her BA in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1996 and was a registered nurse at St. Tammany Hospital, up until 2019, when her health forced her to stop working and rest. Many lifelong friendships were made in her nursing career and treasured in her heart. She was devoted and excelled in giving the best of care to her patients. Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Morris Don Singleton (Panama City, FL), and Carolyn Elizabeth Beasley Simmons (Mandeville, LA); her Father and Mother-in-law: Joseph and Nelvia Berggren (Metairie, LA), and beloved Great Niece, Madison Peco (Franklinton, LA). Donna was a strong and brave woman, someone you would love to meet and someone you would not forget. She was a true fiery redhead, compassionate and vivacious, a silent warrior, a lover of life, of happiness and she endeavored to live life with strength from our Heavenly Father. Donna will be remembered for her loving and nurturing ways, her sense of humor, her delight in simple things, her devotion to her family and friends. She was a lover of animals, and her precious little companion “Sadie” will miss her as well as all of her loved ones and friends. She loved to travel, see different cultures and some of her most enjoyable times were with her family on these adventures. Now she has a beautiful resting place in the Heavenly Realms, and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be!” “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” The family appreciates the kindness and love from all the family, friends, doctors, nurses and aids, and her church family; Church of the King, and all that have showed their loving kindness and support throughout her brave journey. May the Lord Bless each of you. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington on Friday afternoon, December 18th, 2020 at 1:00. Visitation will begin at 11:00, and the Louisiana Nurses Honor Guard will honor Donna in ceremony presentation at 12:45. Inurnment will follow in the adjacent St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden.
