Frederick “Fred” Calvert Sullivan, Jr., age 83, of Bogalusa, LA passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was born on November 25, 1938 in Crowley, LA to Frederick Calvert Sullivan and Rita McQuaid Sullivan.
Fred is survived by his brother Walter L. Sullivan, his sister-in-law Patricia, his long-time caregiver Colleen Kitchen and her family.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Kelley and his parents.
Fred was a 1955 graduate of Stanton Military Academy, in Stanton, VA, before graduating from Loyola University in 1960, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Inspired by his faith, Fred later completed his education, earning a Doctorate of Philosophy in Bible Studies from Louisiana Baptist University in 2010.
Devout in his faith, Fred served as Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Slidell, LA in 1999 before relocating to Dallas, TX in 2000. It was in Dallas where he would meet Joan Kelley; they married in 2004. Fred continued in ministry, becoming a Deacon at Northlake Baptist Church, serving as Chairman of the Deacons and later becoming Hospital Chaplain for 8 years Baylor Hospital in Dallas, before returning to Louisiana.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all his wonderful caregivers Kia, Jessica, and Nini, the staff of Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, and APEX Home Health for the excellent care they provided to Fred over the past year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Mandeville Bible, Carroll Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1:00 PM with visitation at the church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden, Covington, LA under the direction of Grace Funeral Home.
