Gary P. Morel Sr.

Gary P. Morel, Sr., age 63, of Abita Springs, LA passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. He was born on January 8, 1958 in New Orleans, LA to Rudolph “Rudy” Morel Sr., and Dorothy Gail (Poyadou) Morel.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Vickie Morel. He was the father of Gary Morel, Jr. (Mary Rae) and Meagan Marshall (Jesse) and proud grandfather of Gary “Trip” Morel, III, the future Baby Morel, Emily Marshall, and future Baby Marshall. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy Gail D’Arcourt and his siblings Rudy Morel (Bonnie), Brenda Morel Vinti (Lee), Brian Morel (Aunt Lali), and Kelly Morel (Cindy); his sisters-in-law Mary Hane and Christina Morel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his father Rudy Morel; his identical twin brother Cary Morel, Sr.; his sister-in-law Leigh Smith; his mother-in-law Ruby Fisher; his father-in-law Donald Fisher; and his nephews Cary Morel, Jr. and Blaine Morel.

Gary grew up in New Orleans, and spent a lot of his time in Bay St. Louis as a child. He owned and operated his own electrical business, Easy Electric, for over 10 years. In his spare time, Gary was an avid fisherman and die-hard Saints fan. Gary never met a stranger, because with his magnetic personality and loving heart he created many strong relationships throughout his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St, Abita Springs, LA 70420 on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 12:00 PM with visitation on Tuesday at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in Abita Springs Cemetery, Abita Springs, LA.
