

Joan Barovechio Stoot, 84, of Covington and formerly of New Orleans and Chalmette, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in the loving presence of her daughters, son- in- law, and granddaughter. She was born on August 27, 1941, in New Orleans to the late Angelo Louis Barovechio & Gladys Floyd Barovechio. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 28 years Leroy Stoot, and sister Cynthia Barovechio.
Joan grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Rabouin High School in 1959. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Chalmette for many years. She was also involved with the school and co-op board at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic School when her younger daughter attended school there. Later when she moved to the north shore, she was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington. In her senior years Joan was involved in H2U, Faith & Fun, and the Mandeville Senior Group, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Joan loved to travel and would go often with her ladies group. Some of her fondest memories were travels to Colorado, Hawaii, San Antonio, and New York. She even got to experience the Rose Parade in Pasadena, and one of her best trips was to Niagara Falls. Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Her legacy lives on in all of those who knew and loved her.
Joan is survived by her children Lesa (Robin) Albrecht, Randy (Gwen) Mullet, and Kim (Dwayne) Marlborough; grandchildren Mallorie (Joey) Lefante, Kristen (Chris) O'Donnell, and Matthew Marlborough; siblings Louis Angelo (Vicky) Barovechio, and Donna (Mark) Wester. Joan also leaves behind to cherish her memory 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Grace Funeral Home in Covington (450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on March 4, 2026, at Grace Funeral Home Chapel with Entombment to follow at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden Cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, CNA's, and staff at Trinity Trace Community Care Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their care and compassion.
