June (Hanners) Kennedy Miestchovich, age 84, formerly of Abita Springs, LA, passed away on March 5, 2025. She was born on July 22, 1940, in New Orleans, LA to Francis Marrion “Slim” Hanners and Kathryn Ocie (Nelson) Hanners.
June is survived by her nephews and niece David Holloway (Louise), Ocieah Holloway Rasbury (the late Tommy), and Clarence Holloway and her devoted friends who she referred to as her “adopted daughters” and caretakers Bridgette Mabry and Debbie Tillman.
June is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Joneen Hanners Holloway.
June leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. A high achiever in life, she graduated from Louisiana State University in 1962. June was President and owner of Access Transportation Services in Metairie, La. She was also an officer in the World Trade Club and New Orleans Traffic and Transportation.
June loved to travel and had been to Europe and the Orient many times. She loved to play cards, earning her the nickname “Queen of Canasta”. She was active in her church community of First Baptist Church of Covington. June possessed an engaging personality and consistently used her quick wit to make friends. Her wisdom, kindness and energy helped nurture and shape many who came to know her. June leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the memories and hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her cliché’, riddle-filled journey. Her sayings were priceless and memorable.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at The Chapel at First Baptist Covington on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at 2:00 PM with visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Reception to follow. The Celebration of June's journey will be held in the Chapel at 16054 Murphy Rd, Covington. LA, which is adjacent to the church.
