Tommy had a rough beginning in life, being raised by his grandmother until she passed when he was only 14 years old. Upon becoming of age, Tommy joined the army and served in Korea until wounded in action. After some time he landed in New Orleans where he met the love of his life, Genever Self Tompkins. They were together for 59 years when Genever preceded him in death on 2/12/2020.
Tommy and Genever began studying the Bible in the mid 60’s and developed a love for Bible truths and the promise of life on a paradise earth. Tommy dedicated his life in service to Jehovah and was baptized on 12/14/1968. His love for Jehovah and people moved him to instill these wonderful promises in others and was used by Jehovah to help many come to know these truths in the Bible. He endeavored to share these truths whenever possible. His last few days in the hospital was no exception as he spoke of these promises to nurses at St. Tammany. Tommy and Genever left a spiritual heritage to their fleshy and spiritual children and everyone he met.
Tommy was affectionately known by others as dad, pawpaw, pops, uncle Tommy amongst other titles. His love for life, his humor, positivity, and bounce will be truly missed.
Tommy died faithful to Jehovah with a firm hope of a future in the paradise promised in God’s word. He believed as Psalms 37:29 states, “The righteous will possess the earth and reside forever upon it.”
We look forward to welcoming him back in the resurrection along with many other loved ones. (John 5:28,29)
The family will have a private gathering. Terri, Elisa and Rene wish to thank everyone for their loving support during these difficult times.
