

Verna was born in Dover, New Hampshire to Frederick Pinkham and Merti “Quint” Pinkham. Verna was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1947. Verna married Joseph Legere on May 22, 1948 in Rollingsford, New Hampshire and resided in Dover, New Hampshire. They bought their first home in South Berwick, Maine in 1952 and there they raised their two sons, Ronald J. Legere and Mark W. Legere and continued to reside until her husband retired after 37+ years as a Boston and Maine Railroad Trainman and Conductor. Verna was employed at General Electric in Somersworth, New Hampshire and also South Berwick Shoe, South Berwick, Maine, these were in Verna’s words, jobs. Verna’s passion, however; was antiques and she opened and operated the “Golden Eagle Antique Shop” at her home in South Berwick. She found this fulfilling and profitable; one of the things, Verna and Joe shared -- was loving what they did for a living. In 1985, after 33 years of living in Maine, Joe and Verna made the move to Micco, FL. They lived there until Joe passed away in 1999. After Joe’s death she sold the home in FL and moved north to Farmington, NH. After 4 years, 4 winters, she decided to join her two sons, Ron and Mark in Louisiana residing in Mandeville, LA. She lived in Mandeville until her death, a period of 15+ years. Verna leaves her two sons, Ronald and wife June and Mark of Mandeville and Madisonville, LA. Her sister Geraldine Koulouras of Newburyport, MA; Five (5) grandchildren: Shane Legere, wife Amy of Covington, LA; Kristen and husband Paul of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Amy and husband Arron of Gray, ME; Jeffry and wife Anna of New Gloucester, ME; and Michael and wife Jen of Windham, ME. Ten (10) great-grandchildren: Katie, Ryan, Trevor, Derek, Ben, Luke, Joe, Noah, Jack and Molly and one (1) great-great-granddaughter, Skylar.
She also leaves numerous nephews, nieces, and longtime friends, Linda Gately, Dorothy Daigle and sister-in-law Doris Legere. She was loved by all, she touched many and will be missed, loved and not forgotten. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are preferred.
