Victorine Mary Battaglia Woodsum, age 98, of Madisonville, LA passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. She was born on October 9, 1922 in New Orleans, LA to Lucien Battaglia and Mary Antonia (Holland) Battaglia.
Victorine is survived by her children Patricia Ann Woodsum, David Arthur Woodsum, Christopher Paul Woodsum, and Kathleen Mary Woodsum Weidenbacher (Steve). She is also survived by her nephew Derryl Battaglia (Mary).
Victorine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Herbert Woodsum, and her parents.
Victorine, a native New Orleanian and descendent of early New Orleans founders, grew up in the French Quarter and attended school at the St. Louis Cathedral, instructed by the Teresian Sisters. She later attended high school at the former St. Joseph Church on Tulane Avenue. Later in life, she earned an Associate’s Degree from the University of New Orleans. Victorine enjoyed painting and creating works of art; also musically inclined, she played the harmonica and the piano. Devout in her faith, she regularly attended Mass and Bible Study.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447 on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation at the church on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in St. Louis #3 Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
