I cannot believe I'm writing this. I am so blessed you came to see me right before your passing. You are always so good to me. I am so glad you thought to visit me and was so glad to have that heart to heart. Most especially happy for the last kiss on the cheek and telling you how beautiful your eyes were. I have lots of wonderful memories which I choose to hold on to. You were known as Big Wes and I can't help but think of you as we recaptured some of the memories recently, most especially those days back at Pinecrest. We were just talkin about the fair and all kinds of fun things that went on with you and the boys. And while speaking on Pinecrest even granny Gail  had a special place in her heart for you as she did for all of y'all.  I look back on those days with good memories and thank God that you were in our lives to begin with. You were very strong and sort of rough around the edges when you needed to be but soft is cotton. I remember your keychain that said my name and how you had me laughing just thinking about it. You always had a beautiful soul and were consistent in your thoughtfulness most especially with me. I remember when you came by with food one day. You would just show up unexpectedly sometimes and those were the brightest days because you knew you were welcome anytime. It was good to see all the guys together at your send off into the Heavenly Realm. Say hi to Granny for me and know I look forward to seeing you again at our reunion  in Paradise one day. Until then you will remain here with me where you are branded and tattooed upon my HEART. You are sadly missed.

Wes was by far one of the most dynamic soccer players I ever got the chance of playing with. I distinctly remember other teams whispering to one another, “There’s that Wes guy we heard about,” when getting ready to play us. Wes was the star of our team, which is saying a lot - our team won several State Championships and we were stacked with talent. But he always stood out. He even scored the winning goal of our first State Championship game from around the middle of the field! 

Off the field, Wes was a riot! He could have everyone laughing in an instant. I can remember a goofy prank Wes wanted to pull on one of the guys Joe on our team who had an intense fear of snakes. Wes had found a dead snake and thought it might be funny to scare Joe with it. In order for you to understand the comedy of this moment, you have to know that Wes was our fastest player and Joe was not. But the moment Joe saw Wes with that snake, he ran like Forrest Gump! We were all cackling as we saw Joe outrun Wes for what felt like forever. Wes eventually gave up the chase because he couldn’t stop laughing either.

Wes certainly left a positive lasting impression on our team. He will certainly always be remembered and deeply missed.

I was heartbroken to here this news of Wesly’s passing. Coach Jackie Bowers called me late last night to tell me the news in hopes that we could somehow get the word to his former team mates from Impact. I have so many fun memories from my son playing on this team and miss the boys and their parents. Prayers for peace and comfort to you Mary Kay and Mike and your family! May God wrap his arms around you all as you continue to go through this tough time.

Unfortunately, I didn’t know Wesley but I was good friends with his mom and her family.  We grew up across the street from her family and she and her family were family to us, and still are. We hen I read these stories about Wesley he sounds just like his mom. Mary Kay was always a great little soccer player. She could make a drab day so hilarious and we laughed a lot. My heart bleeds for you and your family. I believe Wesley is at peace now. Lots of hugs are coming your way. I wish I could be there for you.  Much love, Carol

I was just asking my son Byron about Wesley yesterday.  He was an awesome soccer player who helped their team to win state championship.  He came to the beach with us too, he was such  sweet young man. I’ll never forget him . I’m so sorry Mary Kay my prayers to you and your family.  

I got close to Wesley at pelican park refereeing his daughter in basketball.He will be missed.

From gator pond to the ping pong games and darts to fishing for hours a day.  Not a time we didn’t have a great time and always laughing and messing around. I love you brother and will miss you dearly.

My Son Wesley

He was my charmer, 
My heart warmer
Who took life harder
Than most.
Wesley was deliberate.
Indiscriminately considerate
When he and I were close.

He played football as a little squirt. 
He was athletic and a big flirt. 
He excelled in soccer,
had a great foot.
Won a game in overtime,
The moment he partook. 
However a traveling team
Would not be his dream
It seemed. 

Wesley made me laugh,
A “people-person” craft.
An epigraph 
To his story 
Might read, 
“Wesley in his glory
A charismatic soul indeed.”

Had a way about him 
A sense of humor and whim
That attracted others
To be part of his energy rim.
A light that would dim 
When addiction set in. 

He was a wonderful father
And a good son when clean.
The thought of him gone makes my blood boil mean. 
I tried, as I may, 
Not to think of this day.
I was hoping he would overcome it. 
His habit go dormant. 
Wesley may be gone from me physically. 
But he is always with me mystically. 

Question to ponder from a poet. 
The answer only you will know it.

Grieve

For it’s our grief that gives us our gratitude,
Shows us how to find hope, if we ever lose it.

We was just talking about how we never argued or had fight over any thing. You were the one encouraging me to do good more than you could know. I'll never forget the laughs and good times we had. Love you bro and know your watching over me and the fam.

I remember us all hanging out one day, Wesley, Jacques, Karl, and me. Wesley went to get snacks and came back with chic-o-sticks and jalapeno poppers. No one wanted that but him. Lol. I hope you're up there helping to keep us all safe, enjoying your chic-o-sticks. You and youre family are in my prayers. Love you Wes. 

Wes was like a brother to my brother and therefore I considered him like family to me. Ty and Wes met in 4th grade and he became a constant figure in my childhood from then on. His laugh was infectious and he couldn’t get through his own jokes before cracking himself up.. Growing up there were times he’d have everyone cracking up like when me, Ty, Wes, and Melissa snuck out and went to gator pond late one night and something scared him and he let out the most high pitched scream I’ve ever heard. Wesely and Tyler together were something else. They had this special way of aggravating me into doing stuff for them but being so funny about it I couldn’t say no. Of everything I could say about Wesleys character the most meaningful thing would be how true he stayed to my brother.  After Tyler passed away Wesely always made sure to check in on me and let me know he was there for me even though he was going through struggles of his own. I think he knew that’s what Tyler would have wanted him to do and the fact he followed through on that meant the world to me. Love you Wes. I know Tyler was waiting at those gates.

Wes and I did not get along very well when we were younger, but as we got into high school we learned to respect each other. Wes was a friendly guy that would not hesitate to give you the shirt off of his back. He was also a heck of a soccer player and I always enjoyed to compete against him. Gonna miss you Wes. I'll see you again someday man. 

I will never forget his laugh. They way when Wesley would tell a joke or play a prank and the humor would take over him - it was infectious. I remember being terrified of his pet ferret when we were little and he would constantly sneak behind me and put the ferret on my head or wrap it around my neck. Absolutely terrifying but equally hilarious. And other times his laugh would take over a room poking fun at my childhood nickname from my parents - he absolutely loved that one. I’ll definitely keep those memories close to my heart and remember him as the playful kid I grew up with. Sending Mike, Mary Kay, Cameron, Olivia, Cara and his children my deepest condolences 💕 

When I think of my childhood I think of Wes and Tyler we were inseparable. I probably walked thousands of miles with y’all and spent years hanging out. I never though I would be writing in your obituary shortly after Tylers passing.  I always figured when we grew up we would sit around a fire reminiscing on our childhood. You both may be gone from this earth but never from my memories. My deepest condolences to your family and kids. 

I love you Big Wes! You and Brent are brothers to me man.. We had some great times growing up. I can't even believe this is real. From Mandeville Jr. High when you use to crush it in every sport you ever played all the way to the good old detail shop days. You will be in my heart forever Wes. RIP my brother. See you on the other side. 

Wesley was one of the sweetest and funniest guys I have ever met. I remember meeting him in 4th grade. He was my first crush and my first boyfriend. We had the strangest way of flirting. He used to "rhino horn" me and dead leg me haha. He even cracked my tale bone and it hurt for like 6 months. I remember running around Woodridge and Alligator pond with Katie Tyler Wes and Victor and Eric. When I think of my childhood adventures I think of him. We hadn't talked to each other much in years up until last summer he started talking to me all the time and just telling me about life and being goofy and video chatting me like we were hanging out lol. I wish I could have actually seen him but I am grateful that we got to reconnect before he left us. He will always hold a place in my heart forever. He meant more to me than I even realized. I will always cherish the memories I have with him especially the sweet pure moments when life was easy and care free. There is some comfort in knowing that he is free now. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. I love you Wes!

I remember Wesley as such a fun, energetic, talented, outgoing young man. He was one of my favorite kids on my son, Andreas' soccer team. My prayers go to his family in this most difficult time.
