Daniel George Douglas Jr passed away June 13, 2025 in Longmont ,Colorado. Danny was born April 19, 1953 in Hayden, Colorado to Daniel George Douglas and Charlotte Adele Counts. His early years were spent growing up in Craig Colorado prior to moving to Artesia and then Rangely. While in Rangely he attended elementary and Jr High School . In 1965 he moved with his family to Cedar City Utah and eventually to Pueblo, Colorado in 1965. As soon as he was old enough he spent his summers in Craig working for Uncle Gene where he learned the rewards of working hard and the in’s out’s of farming.
He completed high school and graduated from East High School with honors in 1971. After being offered scholarships to different colleges he chose Southern Colorado State College which offered him the opportunity to transfer to University of Colorado in Boulder to study Electrical Engineering. He graduated from CU with high honors and a GPA of 3.83 on May 23, 1975. Danny spent his Pueblo years living across the street from his aunt Fern uncle Jerry where he and his cousin Randy became best of friends which continued for the rest of his life. Danny was a strong influence on Randy throughout high school and College. They purchased a house together after college in Louisville. When Randy married Danny chose to buy out Randy’s share of the house. Randy could purchase a home in Louisville for his new family. After graduation he began his Engineer career with Ball Aerospace and then he worked for a series of high tech startup companies in Boulder eventually becoming principal owner in a high tech company. He sold his interest in that company when their vision of the technical direction of the company didn’t match his. He married Cynthia “Hannah” Miller. They were later separated. In 2007 Dan suffered a stroke that ended his ability to work as an Electrical Engineer. He eventually was unable to care for himself but was able to be in Assisted Living until 2024 when his health declined and he moved to long term care. The staff there loved Dan. They said he was so enjoyable to be around, so gentle and they loved his quick wit that always kept them laughing and they will truly miss him. Danny was a highly intelligent person, he excelled at all school classes. To me my brother Danny is the example of taking the cards you are dealt in life and playing them with purpose and dignity with no complaints and striving to make sure you make life for those around you better. Danny was preceded in death by his father Danny and his mother Charlotte. He is survived by his sister Terry Irons ( Paul) 12 nieces and nephews and 18 grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at a The Peaks and Trailwinds Hospice for the loving tender care they gave Dan in his final months of life.
